A Charitable Event – Royal Naval Volunteer Band Association Festival
From 9:00am on Sunday the 28th of July, 400 volunteer musicians who will be making up 10 bands, will be performing in a day-long event on The Hoe. The bands are made up of retired, serving and civilian members and the event is suitable for the whole family.
The programme events go as follows:
9:00am – Marching Displays
10.20am – Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps Plymouth Display
12:00pm – The Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth Marching Display
12.30pm – Concert Band Performances
4.30pm – Presentation of Awards and Prizes
The bands, who are from all over the West Country (including Plymouth-based Devonport Royal Naval Volunteer Band) will be competing for various awards, including the Commander in Chief’s Challenge Trophy and the title of, “Best Overall Volunteer Band in the Royal Navy”.
As well as the musical marvels, guests will be able to enjoy performances by The Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth and The Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps of Drums, an award-winning group.
The day’s events are in support of the Royal Navy and The Royal Marines Charity, the chosen charity of The Royal Navy. This charity serves both personnel and veterans, and their families to support them during times of hardship. For more information on this charity, please visit www.rnrmc.org.uk
